Vaginoplasty

Vaginoplasty Procedure Transition Graphic

Vaginoplasty is a cosmetic vaginal surgery which tightens loose tissues while eliminating excess vaginal skin resulting in a both a smaller opening and a more youthful appearance.

Vaginal laxity is a very common complaint for women resulting in less friction and sensitivity during sexual intercourse. The procedure tightens and reinforces the entire length of the vaginal canal. For best results a perineoplasty is performed at the same time. Vaginoplasty can be done in combination with labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, and perineoplasty.

Vaginoplasty can be performed by Dr. Lori Warren of Spa-V with or without anesthesia, depending on the patient’s preferences. The patient will be released from the hospital on the same day (no overnight stay required). Typically, the only side effects that follow the procedure are generally short-term and include discomfort redness, and swelling.

Why do patients choose this procedure?

The most common reason is that after childbirth, many women complain of vaginal laxity, resulting from stretching of tissues and separating of muscles, sometimes to the point that a tampon slip out. This lack of tone can contribute to sexual dysfunction and other issues.

What does a vaginoplasty do?

The procedure can surgically bring the separated muscles together, and the extra mucosa skin from the back side of the vagina is removed, and the external skin can also be removed to change the visible aesthetic of the genitalia.
